Event Description
Henry County School Juniors and Seniors who are enrolled in the Work-Based Learning (WBL) internship program will have the opportunity to participate in a Work-Based Learning Success Seminar on Thursday, February 16. The event will be held at the Relevant Church located at 4770 Highway 42 in Locust Grove, at 11 AM – 1:30 PM, and offer students the opportunity to observe, engage, and prepare for transition to post-secondary, military, and employment opportunities.
The Success Seminar will connect students with business and organizational leaders who will instruct and provide guidance on the importance and development of soft skills which include interpersonal skills, social skills, communication skills, attitudes, and teamwork and leadership abilities. There will be as many as twenty-five business/community-based speakers and approximately 600 students participating. With engaging speakers, real-world examples, and essential training tools, our goal is to enable our WBL students to recognize and learn the core soft skills necessary for success at the next level.

We are seeking donations to assist in the cost of the venue, lunch, and materials. Your tax-deductible donation will make a difference in the overall experience and success of this much needed event. A Call for Speakers
If you are a professional and would like to speak at our upcoming student Work-Based Learning Success Seminar, please contact us. As you know, the success of a business often depends on the knowledge, expertise, and guidance of experienced professionals.
As a successful business leader, your insights and experiences would be invaluable to our students as they strive to achieve success in their own careers. By sharing your experiences and offering guidance and advice, you can help shape the future leaders of the business world. We will be in touch with you shortly to make sure we have your topic secured if you are able to do a presentation to our students. Relevant Church has asked that we forward any presentation using technology to them by January 9, 2023, so they can be sure all slides, videos or those types of elements will work with their set up.
Here is a schedule of what the day will look like:
10:00 am – speakers arrive and set up for session, light refreshments served
10:30 am – work-based learning students arrive from all 11 Henry County Schools
10:45 am – welcome and instructions given
11:00 am – speaker sessions begin and run through 12:30 – 3 sessions at 20 minutes each
12:30 – 1:00 pm – lunch provided; students must board buses to return to school by 1:00 pm
